Major indoor flood causes Compton Courthouse to close until further notice

The Compton Courthouse will be closed until further notice due to a pipe burst over the weekend, officials said. According to a media release from Los Angeles County Superior Court, the major flood has left the elevators, stairwells and lobby inaccessible at the courthouse, located at 200 West Compton Boulevard.  Fleeing California: Moving company says exodus continued in 2023 “The Court is in the process of working with partners at the Judicial Council of California, who own and operate the facility, to assess the damage and obtain an estimate on when the courthouse will reopen,” the L.A. Father and 5-Year-Old Girl Killed in Auto Accident near West 50th StreetLOS ANGELES, CA (January 2, 2024) – Two victims were killed late Sunday night after a two-vehicle collision on South Normandie Avenue and West 50th Street.Around 11:00 p.m. on December 31st, law enforcement arrived at the scene. Surveillance footage from the vicinity captured a white SUV in high-speed pursuit of a red sedan moments before the collision occurred. The SUV subsequently collided with the sedan from behind, prompting the sedan’s driver to initiate a pursuit of the SUV into the intersection.A southbound vehicle then collided with the SUV, propelling it into a street sign and fence. Calavera, the upscale Mexican restaurant in Uptown Oakland, announced on Instagram that it will close Jan. 6.During its heyday, the restaurant was so popular, the noise levels were off the charts, according to our 2015 dining review. Clearly, diners found the atmosphere and menu of small plates, street tacos and creative cocktails irresistible. But the restaurant has faced a series of challenges in subsequent years.In April 2016, three former employees launched a class action lawsuit against the restaurant alleging wage theft. Former SF city employee charged with conflict of interest laws

(KRON) – A former employee of the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection, Van Zeng, has been charged with three misdemeanor counts of having a financial conflict of interest in a government decision. According to the District Attorney’s Office,  Zeng signed off on an inspection of his own home. He also signed off on inspections for two construction projects for Mutual Seiko Construction, his father’s company.
