ST. LOUIS - Attorneys from Legal Services of Eastern Missouri are holding free clinics Wednesday night.Three different legal service programs will be available. Children's Legal Alliance assists families with getting educational rights for their kids, such as out of school learning, special education, or enrollment. Southwest Airlines offering 40% off flights if you book by Thursday Legal Advocacy for Adults with Mental Illness helps people with housing issues, marital issues, guardianship, and criminal record expungement. Youth and Family Advocacy provides assistance to families that are homeless, dealing with credit problems, or applying for public benefits.The legal clinic is Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Central Library. If you can't make it Wednesday, there's one every third Thursday of the month.

St. Louis County launching new budget simulation tool this month

LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - St. Louis County has launched a simulation tool to help engage the community in the budget process.The interactive tool lets locals explore various budget scenarios and experience the complexities and trade-offs in budget planning. County officials hope seeing how residents budget will help them better understand what the public values. One of those is at 6:30 p.m. at the Des Peres Lodge. The next one is Tuesday, June 27, at the Oak Bend Library - and the final one is Thursday, June 29, at Grants View Library.

Veterans in St. Charles hosting flag donation in honor of Flag Day

CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - Wednesday is Flag Day, and military veterans in St. Charles want to help you properly dispose of worn or damaged U.S. flags.They are holding a flag collection Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You can drop off your flags at the corner of the Monroe and 2nd Streets. Police tie 12-year-old girl to overnight crime spree The flags will be donated to the AM vets, who retire the flags ceremoniously.

Volunteers setting up 600 flags for fallen marines Thursday

MEHLVILLE, Mo. - A group that honors fallen service members needs volunteers. The flagman's mission wants to set up 600 flags along the funeral procession route for U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Kyle Mitchell Kamp. Flags will be set up Thursday at noon. Southwest Airlines offering 40% off flights if you book by Thursday Volunteers will meet at Kutis South County Chapel on Lemay Ferry Road in Mehlville. Visitation for Corporal Kamp is Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.The funeral service is Friday at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers are also being asked to help remove the flags after the funeral.

ST. LOUIS - A new law in Illinois will give harsher penalties to healthcare workers who cover up patient abuse.That's according to FOX 2's partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The legislation was introduced after an investigation into a southern Illinois institution found multiple cases of abuse and cover-ups. Deadly police chases the focus of emotional NAACP town hall

LOUIS - Police chases and the deadly crashes that can happen from them were the focus of emotional town hall meeting hosted by the NAACP.THE NAACP officials who organized the forum said that there are situations when police chases are necessary, but they also argue that advances in technology and more dialogue about the issue can help save lives.The town hall taking place Tuesday night at the Omega Center in north city. Authorities from emotional locals who have lost ones because of police chases. Some at the town hall say police are pursuing too much jeopardizing the safety of citizens.St. Louis County Police Chief Ken Gregory was at the meeting. He said the ending chases are not an option, but that county police only pursue if a felony is involved.Gregory also announced that his department is testing new technology would send an alert is there is a police chase in an area.
