GTA residents who’ve held out on unpacking the winter gear will need to finally break out the toques, mittens and parkas on what will likely be the coldest day of the season so far.The temperature is not expected to reach the freezing mark in Toronto, and areas north and northwest of the city are in for another round of significant snow.“You definitely need the extra, extra layers,” says CityNews 680 meteorologist Jill Taylor. “Strong winds out of the west, northwest today.”It’s already the coldest morning this fall so far if you factor in the wind, feeling like -12 in the early morning hours. Antisemitic incidents in Germany rose by 320% after Hamas attacked Israel, a monitoring group says

BERLIN (AP) — A group tracking antisemitism in Germany said Tuesday that it documented a drastic increase of antisemitic incidents in the country in the month after Hamas attacked Israel on Oct. 7. The RIAS group said it recorded 994 incidents, which is an average of 29 incidents per day and an increase of 320% compared to the same time period in 2022. The group looked at the time period from Oct. 7 to Nov. 9.Among the 994 antisemitic incidents, there were three cases of extreme violence, 29 attacks, targeted damage to 72 properties, 32 threats, four mass mailings and 854 cases of offensive behavior.Many Jews in Germany experienced antisemitic incidents in their everyday lives and even those who weren’t exposed to any antisemitic incidents reported feelings of insecurity and fear, said RIAS, which is an abbreviation in German for the Department for Research and Information on Antisemitism.RIAS said that 59 reported incidents related to homes or people’s living environmen...

Dell Children's NICU expansion opens

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Dell Children's Medical Center in east Austin cut the ribbon to open the expanded neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The expansion added 24 new rooms, each of which include an area for parents to stay, and a private bathroom. Before the expansion, there were 32 rooms on site. "We couldn't be more excited for Dell to have this new NICU, and to be a part of it. So thank you for taking care of our babies, it's amazing," a parent of twins in the NICU said. There's a new place for newborns to get the medical care they need to make it home. (NEWS10) -- The City of Troy received a $20,000 New York Main Street (NYMS) program funding award as part of the 2023 Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) Consolidated Funding Application (CFA). The Christmas Eve fire that injured two workers at Suncor Energy’s Commerce City refinery began when a vapor cloud leaked from an unused pump valve and exploded as the facility was being shut down after extreme cold caused equipment failures, according to a federal investigation.The vapor was released from a pump that was not functional and had not been used or properly inspected in seven years, according to the report detailing the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration‘s investigation into the accident. The Cornerstar shopping center in Aurora is one of four open-air shopping centers bought in a $100 million deal between DLC Management Corp., a New York-based private real estate company, and DRA Advisors, a real estate investment adviser.The 380,479-square-foot Cornerstar in south Aurora is anchored by Target, Marshalls, HomeGoods, 24 Hour Fitness, Nike and Ulta. DLC said it plans to add a specialty grocery to the anchor spot previously occupied by the grocer Sprouts Farmer Market.DLC bought Cornerstar from ShopCore Properties. The other shopping centers DLC acquired are in New Jersey, Arizona and Ohio.
