(The Hill) – Millennials are now a homeowner-majority generation — a milestone achieved amid a global pandemic and an unsteady housing market. The country’s largest generation has added millions to the homeowner ranks in the last decade alone and reached 18.2 million owners last year, according to recent data from the listing website RentCafe. But this population, comprised of Americans born between 1981 and 1996, reached this hallmark of the American dream later than both their parents and grandparents, when their average age was 34. Generation X and baby boomers achieved this feat at ages 32 and 33 respectively. Man found guilty of spitting at police gets 70 years in prison

LUBBOCK, Texas (KLBK/KAMC) -- A Texas man was sentenced to 70 years in prison Wednesday after he was found guilty of harassing a public servant for spitting at Lubbock police officers. Larry Pearson, 36, was arrested in May 2022 for domestic violence after a victim flagged down an officer in northeast Lubbock, prosecutor Jessica Gorman said. The victim told police that Pearson had hit her several times and that he had a gun. Gorman said that firearm turned out to be an airsoft gun. A police report at the time stated the victim had "multiple visible injuries" on her face. Gorman said after Pearson was taken into custody, he was upset the victim was not arrested instead. That's when he started kicking at the doors in the officer's vehicle. When the officers opened the door to tell him to stop, Gorman said he spit at both officers. Parking requirements for barsA resolutions from City Council Member José Velásquez calls for eliminating certain parking lot restrictions for bars to "encourage alternative modes of transportation and reduce the incidence of drunk driving,” the resolution reads. Council item aims to limit parking lot requirements for bars to curb drunk driving According to current building standards, properties that are at least 2,500 square feet must accommodate at least 25 drivers. Bars 10,000 square feet or more must have enough room for a minimum of 400 cars. The new resolution would still require ADA parking options. Austin police ID victim, release description of vehicle in deadly hit-and-run

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police Wednesday identified the victim and released a description of the vehicle involved in a deadly hit and run that happened Sunday. According to the Austin Police Department, officers and Austin-Travis County EMS medics responded to the crash around 2:15 a.m. between two vehicles and a pedestrian on the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 Service Road between 6th and 7th Streets. Police said the driver of a Kia Forte hit the pedestrian, Jorge Luis Sanchez Villalobos, as he crossed the street. After hitting Sanchez Villalobos, the driver of the Kia Forte hit another vehicle and drove off. Texas residents concerned after 900-foot-wide sinkhole begins to spread

HOUSTON (KIAH) - Residents in Daisetta, Texas say they're concerned that a massive sinkhole will swallow their homes. The sinkhole, which formed back in 2008, is growing again. For years, the ground has remained stable. That changed on Sunday, April 2nd. Community members say it has swallowed up oil tanks, telephone poles and several cars. The sinkhole is located a little north of Hull-Daisetta High School and west of FM 770 on the edge of the DeLoach Oil and Gas Waste Well. Daisetta is located northeast of Houston. So far, authorities have not issued any evacuations.

Man killed in hit-and-run on I-35 Frontage Road

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police say a man died Wednesday night in a hit and run crash in North Austin. Police say the crash was reported at 7:21 p.m. in the 9000 block of the southbound Frontage Road of I-35, between Rundberg Lane and U.S. Highway 183. According to APD, one man, a pedestrian, is dead. Police say the driver left the scene of the crash.

LOUIS - A move to regulate short-term rental properties in St. Louis City is put on hold, at least for now, by a St. Louis planning board.The details on this story are appearing in FOX 2's St. Louis Post-Dispatch partners. The short-term home rentals at issue are found a lot on websites like Airbnb and Vrbo. The potential regulations are being looked at by members of the St. Louis Planning Commission.City documents detail the regulations being considered.
