With records dating back to the 1890s, that's the longest stretch of triple-digit temperatures ever recorded in Austin. MORE HEAT RECORDS: What is Austin's hottest month ever? Zilker Eagle train restoration back on track after 10-month delay

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Plans to restore the Zilker Eagle miniature train are back on track after nearly a year of delays. Last October, the Austin Parks Foundation had to delay the restoration after safety testing revealed braking issues. Zilker Eagle train opening delayed due to ‘braking problems’ APF posted on social media Friday that the plans were officially back on track, and a thread from a Zilker Eagle account said testing should tentatively occur in the late fall with the train opening to the public shortly after. The Zilker Eagle posts said a local group of engineers partnered with the project, and the train coaches were recently transported to an off-site facility to be retrofitted with airbrakes to ensure they're safe for passengers. They'll also receive new electrical wiring for lights and a PA system, according to the posts. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has got some bad news for you.The agency released its 90-day forecast Thursday, predicting the broad weather conditions we expect to see around the country between September and November. For the vast majority of the country, it’s looking like a hot summer will transition into a warm fall. Thursday was the third-hottest day ever recorded in Austin Texas is no exception. Albany man arrested on weapon possession charges

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man is facing charges after reports were made of a bullet hole in the door of a residence on Livingston Avenue. Officers from the Albany Police Department located evidence consistent with gunfire. The Crime Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at the 500 block of Livingston Avenue and recovered a Ruger LC9 handgun. Judge dismisses Hunter Biden misdemeanor tax charges

City of Pittsfield announces Holmes Road bridge update

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The City of Pittsfield has issued an update on the Holmes Road bridge repair project. The city stated they have been assured by the project's contractor that the bridge will reopen on August 25 as planned. The bridge deck waterproofing membrane was installed on August 14, and the city said paving would start shortly thereafter. Bicyclist dies after crash near Eldorado Springs

A bicyclist died after colliding with another bicyclist Saturday on Eldorado Springs Drive and Senda Rocosa Drive near Eldorado Springs.The bicyclist has been identified as 57-year-old James Finn by the Boulder County Coroner’s Office.A 50-year-old cyclist who was also involved in the crash endured serious injuries and was transferred to a local hospital, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office provided medical assistance on-scene.

Man took wallet from 86-year-old woman after she was knocked unconscious on bus, LAPD says

The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested the person they say knocked out an 86-year-old woman, but they're looking for another person who was apparently not involved in the attack but stole the woman's wallet while she laid unconscious on the ground.The Aug. 8 attack at about 2:40 p.m. in the Adams-Normandie neighborhood of South Los Angeles sent the woman to a local hospital in critical condition, and police arrested a suspect in the battery that day, the LAPD said in a news release.Surveillance video from Metro bus No. 1957 on Line 204 showed multiple people standing around the incapacitated woman, including one man in a New York Yankees jacket, a dark beanie, dark pants and gray shoes. Hazmat team responds to oil sheen off Huntington Beach coast

A hazmat team is responding to an oil sheen off the coast of Huntington Beach Friday morning that resulted from a boat that sank in the area, officials said. A boat apparently sank sometime Thursday, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley said in a tweet. She specified the incident was not an oil spill. The U.S. Coast Guard is overseeing the incident, and beachgoers are being asked to stay out of the ocean between Beach Boulevard and Seapoint, the Huntington Beach Fire Department said in a tweet. Sky5 captured a capsized boat where the oil sheen originated from. (KTLA) Aerial video from Sky5 showed some areas of darker water off the Huntington Beach Pier. Sky5 also captured the capsized boat in the vicinity.
