Less than two weeks away from the Aug. 1 MLB trade deadline, the San Francisco Giants were already without their starting second baseman and, now, are missing their starting shortstop, too.Brandon Crawford was placed on the injured list prior to Wednesday’s game in Cincinnati, the second time this season the 36-year-old shortstop has landed on the IL. ‘Stop the bleeding’: Pleasanton proposes big rate increases to keep water program afloat

Water rates in Pleasanton could go up 30% this year under a proposed plan that would also raise rates and additional 20% in 2025 and another 12% in 2026.The proposed increases — the first of which would be effective Nov. 1 — address what officials have described as the dire state of the city’s water enterprise fund, which is meant to be sustained by ratepayers but hasn’t kept up with water delivery and maintenance costs. Motorhome driver suspected of hitting more than two dozen cars in heavy traffic

LIVERMORE — The driver of a motorhome is suspected of hitting 25 vehicles during rush-hour traffic and leading the California Highway Patrol on a pursuit Monday before surrendering, the agency said.Officers arrested the driver on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor evading, CHP Officer Robert Purl said. The CHP does not suspect the driver was under the influence but did say there may have been a mental health issue at play.The first call to the CHP came at 6:04 p.m. and reported that a white motorhome had crashed into several vehicles on eastbound Interstate 580, west of the N. Flynn Road exit in Livermore, Purl said. Yosemite National Park’s famed Tioga Road — a 46-mile route through the park’s scenic high country — will open at 8 a.m. this Saturday to the public, the National Park Service announced Wednesday, providing visitors with new terrain to cover and relieving crowding in Yosemite Valley.Due to massive amounts of snow this past winter, the opening date is the latest in 90 years, when modern records began. Fairfield police borrow golf cart to chase, capture burglary suspect

(BCN) -- Fairfield police last week bagged a burglary suspect after a brief golf cart chase. At 4:34 p.m. last Thursday, police received a call regarding an unknown man in the backyard of a residence in the 3600 block of Doral Drive. As officers responded, the caller told a dispatcher the man was trying to break into the home. According to a Fairfield Police Department social media post Wednesday, Officer Josh Smith and Sgt.
