PERRY, Iowa (WHO) – Multiple people were shot inside a small-town Iowa high school early Thursday as students prepared to start their first day of classes after their annual winter break, authorities said.The suspect in the shooting in Perry, Iowa, has died of what investigators believe is a self-inflicted gunshot wound, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. The official was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the investigation and spoke to The AP on condition of anonymity.Law enforcement was notified about an active shooter at Perry High School at 7:37 a.m. CT. WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. intelligence officials have determined that Russia has acquired ballistic missiles from North Korea and is seeking close-range ballistic missiles from Iran as Moscow struggles to replenish supplies for its war with Ukraine, the White House said Thursday.Recently declassified intelligence found that North Korea has provided Russia with ballistic missile launchers and several ballistic missiles, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said. (CNN) — Your health resolutions for the new year may need to include getting checked for hearing aids.Wearing hearing aids if you need them may help protect you from early death, according to a new study published Wednesday in The Lancet Healthy Longevity journal.“What we found was that there was a 24% lower risk of mortality for people who use hearing aids,” said Dr. Janet Choi, an assistant professor of clinical otolaryngology-head and neck surgery with the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine and an otolaryngologist with Keck Medicine of USC.The study looked at the data of 10,000 people — more than 1,800 of whom were identified as having hearing loss — and followed up on their mortality between 1999 and 2012.Some 237 of those with hearing loss reported using hearing aids at least once a week, whereas 1,483 reported never using hearing devices, according to the research.There was no difference in risk of death over the research period bet...

Police pursue suspect on southbound I-5 to San Diego County

SAN DIEGO — A high-speed chase of a suspect on southbound Interstate 5 ended in San Diego County Thursday morning.The vehicle, a gray Honda Civic, was seen driving at a high-rate of speed moving into the county. It is unknown at this time where and when the pursuit started.The chase ended just after 10:45 a.m. in Encinitas near the I-5 Birmingham Drive exit, according to California Highway Patrol. PERRY, Iowa -- Multiple people were shot Thursday morning at Perry High School according to Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante.Law enforcement was notified about an active shooter at the school at 7:37 a.m. When emergency responders arrived on the scene just seven minutes later they found multiple gunshot victims.At a news conference shortly after 10:00 a.m., Sheriff Infante said it's unclear how many victims were shot and the extent of their injuries at this time, but the threat is over and there is no danger to the public. Another news conference has been scheduled for 3:00 p.m. to release updated information about the shooting.NBC News is reporting the shooter is believed to be dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and may have been a student.
