The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating after a University of Southern California graduate student was viciously attacked at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday. Surveillance video from the metro train station showed a suspect attacking Anna S. from behind and hitting her over the head while she was waiting for her train to arrive around 5 p.m. The impact of the punch knocked her out and she didn’t know what happened to her. “Something struck me in the head,” Anna said. “I blacked out. I wasn’t sure what happened, if it happened just to me or to everybody around me. A company representing nearly 15 million cable subscribers and The Walt Disney Co. blamed each other Friday for a dispute that has cut off Disney-owned stations to viewers on the eve of a big sports weekend for U.S. Open tennis and college football fans.The dispute between Disney and Charter Communications Inc. resulted in ESPN, ABC, FX, National Geographic and Disney-branded stations going abruptly dark on Thursday night for Charter's Spectrum TV subscribers. ABC-TV was also cut in seven markets, including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.Both the cable company and Disney said the other side rejected short-term extensions that would have kept Spectrum subscribers' access to the networks.Disputes that result in such service disruptions are not uncommon. (AP) — North Carolina coach Mack Brown is calling out the NCAA for dragging its heels on the case of transfer wide receiver Devontez Walker, who has not yet been ruled eligible.Walker, the Tar Heels’ presumed No. 1 receiver, transferred from Kent State, where he played two seasons after a year at North Carolina Central when he did not play because the season was canceled. NCAA rules generally allow players to transfer freely once. Chad Green was reinstated from the 60-day injured list by the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.The reliever joined the Blue Jays for the first time after undergoing Tommy John surgery with the New York Yankees last season.After seven years with the Yankees, the 32-year-old Green signed an $8.5 million, two-year contract with Toronto in the offseason. He was 33-22 with a 3.17 ERA and 11 saves in 272 major league games, including 24 starts.Green had a 1.46 ERA in 12 1/3 innings of work between Class A Dunedin and Triple-A Buffalo this season.
