AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Dry, cool weather continues this week following beneficial rainfall Christmas weekend.Northerly flow behind a large storm system in the Plains is leading to sunny, brisk weather across Texas. St. Paul Christmas Eve crash: Police ID 65-year-old pedestrian and his dog, who were both killed

A man who died, along with his dog, after they were struck by a driver on Christmas Eve was identified Tuesday as a 64-year-old from St. Paul.Steven Wirtz was crossing West Maryland Avenue at Park Street in the North End when a 45-year-old man driving a Ford sedan east on Maryland Avenue hit them about 8:15 p.m. Sunday.Paramedics pronounced Wirtz dead at the scene. His dog, a 2-year-old German Shepherd named Gunther, also died.The driver stopped after the crash, was not arrested and is cooperating with the investigation, police said. They’re investigating the circumstances of the crash. According to the Missouri Lottery, a winning $1 million Powerball ticket was purchased in O'Fallon, Missouri and matched all five white-ball numbers in Saturday night's drawing. Aspen Snowmass owner sues over influencers shooting high-end fashion content on slopes

The owner of the Aspen Snowmass resorts is complaining about a high-end fashion company that keeps sending so-called “influencers” to its ski areas to be photographed in pricey attire.Aspen Skiing Co. filed a lawsuit Wednesday that accuses Perfect Moment, a London-based skiwear maker, of trademark infringement, among other allegations.The dispute began in March 2021, when Perfect Moment posted photos of female influencers modeling its skiwear on Instagram and other social media sites. Within weeks, Aspen Skiing noticed the photos, realized they were taken on its lifts and slopes, and sent a cease-and-desist letter to London. 44-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Head-On Accident near Hillcrest DriveWACO, TX (December 26, 2023) – Kenneth Caufield lost his life Friday afternoon in a fatal head-on collision.Emergency responders rushed to the scene in the 4900 block of Lake Shore Drive around 3:00 p.m., on December 15th. According to initial reports, 44-year-old Caufield was traveling west near Hillcrest Drive when he unexpectedly crossed into the eastbound lanes, resulting in a collision with another car.Upon arrival, medical personnel declared Caufield deceased at the crash site.
